| Hackney
is to showcase Destination Hackney, a celebration of its leisure and
cultural offerings in an event at Hackney House, an Olympic period
pop-up expo centre on Shoreditch High Street . Live
entertainment, demonstrations and special guests including celebrity
chef Mark Hix will form part of the day-long exhibition.
The
borough boasts a cutting edge music scene; bars and nightlife from
Shoreditch to Dalston; restaurants serving global cuisine;
internationally renowned art galleries; a thriving café culture; more
green space than any other inner London borough, and almost one third of the Olympic Park. The Destination Hackney event takes place on Friday 3 August and will give guests a
flavour of some of the visitor highlights on offer to the corporate and
leisure visitor as well as being the official launch pad for its
new online visitors guide www.destinationhackney.co.uk.
Learn
about the existing and new luxury hotels that are due to open in the
borough; taste some of the food served by some of its best restaurants;
see some of the art and creative talent emerging from the many studios
and galleries; enjoy traditional meets contemporary theatre
performances; join in on tours with topics ranging from Hackney's
heritage to its street art, and chat to the people involved in making
Hackney the place it is today.
They'll
also be special guest speakers including talks by Mark Hix;
restaurateur, Ratnesh Bagdai and VisitEngland's chief executive, James
Berresford. Nine piece East London-based brassband, Brass Roots, will
provide the evening entertainment alongside Dalston Superstore resident
DJ Squeaky.
Doors open at 11am. More information about the event and details how to register can be found here: http://www.hackneyhouse.org/destination-hackney/
