Main Aims: Project recruits volunteers who befriend, support and advise children and young people looked after by Social Services either in residential care or in foster homes. This is a statutory role provided under the Children's Act 1989.

Extra Information: Independent visitors befriend and support children and young people who have been assessed in line with a ‘best interest’ decision and would benefit from the service. Independent visitors and the young person with whom they are matched may share a hobby, sport or interest, do some homework or go on outings (like cinema, park, and bowling). The project provides induction, training, support groups and supervision for the volunteers. All expenses are reimbursed.
Publications: Leaflets for volunteers, children and young people and social services. There is also an information pack.
Opening times: Mon to Fri: 9am - 5pm.
Fees: Free of charge.
